DavidinNashua Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I was told that I may get some help with my questions at this forum, so I am repeating what I asked at the Allis Chalmers forum... I purchased a 7 HP Allis Chalmers Snow Thrower in 1970. A couple of years later, I noticed that Simplicity took over the design, and so I made sure to order parts manuals for the snow blower and engine. I replaced the Briggs & Straton engine with a short block after about 15 years, and am thinking about replacing the entire engine again. (Please do not be offended, but I'm looking at a 11 HP Honda knock-off). However, I see that the oil seal on the left axle (looking from the handles) is leaking, but I do not know: 1. If the seal can be replaced without disassembling the transmission? 2. Where to go to get Allis Chalmer parts, if I need them? 3. If parts are still available? 4. What is the Simplicity model number that equates to my unit? I think that bearings and seals should be relatively standard, and available at stores that specialize in them, but other parts are unique to this model, and may not still be be available. Can someone in this forum or another help with my questions?
RayS Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Welcome to the club! Check out the cross reference page in the link below. It should tell you the equivalent is. A Simplicity dealer should beable to get you the seal. If not a bearing supply store or NAPA can get seals. http://simpletractors.com/Main/x-ref_table.htm
