Well I do get it, I just dont like it. I picked this Sovereign up for my Dad for $1600 that had been on consignment for more than a month at a small engine shop. I mowed their front lawn for them before closing the deal and it runs as nice as it looks. I first saw it from the parking lot of TSC right next door, where shiny new cadets with mower decks made of lighter material than the hood on this are selling like hotcakes for around $1800, and you MIGHT be able to get a snowblower for. Roto tiller? HAH, Loader? LOL ROF etc. I showed this tractor to the manager of the TSC, who is a friend of mine, and after directing him to look at the back end and steering, he said "HOLY SHIP"

The only thing people see is that the Simplicity is at least 10-15 years old, and the Cub Cadet is brand new.

Many people have been convinced by Madison Ave advertising that something new will solve all their problems and newest latest etc etc is far better.Plus you actually have to do a little thinking on your own to figure out which machine is the better quality.Funny thing is once someone buys the TSC mower takes it home and mows grass you both have used mowers.

Does that have the Magnum in it? If it does have the Magnum, the fins can get clogged with debris and restrict air flow and overheat the engine. I have a 1999 sovereign with a Magnum and I was able to pull the air cleaner off and blow out all of the debris. Mine has a bad BGB as it was run without oil in it. I bought a used one from RayS and hope to get her running this summer. JH

It has the Command, I thought they switched from Magnums to Commands around 95. I guess I'm wrong. Again. sm01

Man, $1600 with power steering!!! You got a good deal. Been looking for one with power steering as they don't show up very often. One thing I would do is get the brace accross the bottom of the deck welded on so if you hit something it won't bend the deck.dOddOd

They used the KT17 in them until in 1993 or so at that point they switched to using Commands. In 1997 they switch to the "dreaded" triad OHC and used them through year 2000.
