Loader mount fabrication

I'm finally getting around to having the subframe made for my L-12 loader. I will be installing it on a B-210 (at least for now) and will be having the tube type rear mount fabbed up. Kirk had posted some pics of one he was working on and I was wondering why on the right hand side, it has a reduced diameter, basically his has 3 diameters of pipe used in its construction. http://www.simpletractors.com/do_it/rear_loader_mount.htm

The original parts books show a tube that is the same diameter all the way accross just like this one made by clubmember D-10 Allis.

Anybody know why there is a difference? Thank You. Chris

Chris, That stepdown might give more clearance for the bracket on the variable shifter, neither part moves and I still have close to a 1/8" clearance. Hope this helps.dOd

Chris The cross bar is one bar with a machined notch, I believe it is for clearance for the variable clutch idler. The 2 ends are of course the same size tube with a plate welded to it.
