Imported Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Hey guys, Bought my wife's grandparent's house a few years back and 'inherited' a Simplicity 2110, 990496, with a B&S 243431. I neglected it for too long but she always tried her best. Recently I've cleaned all the electrical terminals and replaced the spark plug to solve the starting problem i was having. I've replaced the belt from the starter and currently have the blades removed so i can sharpen them as I'm getting an ugly cut right now. While I'm doing this maintenance I was thinking about changing the oil. I can't find anything about it in the literature I've found online. I've been told it's probably 30 weight but don't want to over/under fill her as i've grown attached to the old girl. Thanks in advance for any help, Rich
Kent Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 30W... if you can't find it, use 10W40... Not quite 2 quarts. Here's the owner's manual for the 10HP Briggs & Stratton: http://simpletractors.com/operation/b_%26_s_243431.htm
Oz Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 It's not hard to get attached to these little tractors. Oz
