snag Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hey guys, did a quick search and found nothing so I figured I would ask. mowed for about 2 hours and then the deck would disengage, I would hit the stitch and it seem like its trying to engage but wont. I believe that it happened at the end of last year as well. after sitting it came back. Looking for what to start checking. Would a bad battery / charging system cause this with lack of power to the switch. Open to all ideas. thanks Mike
jasper Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Could be bad battery/charging system, out of adjustment (I think it is .012-.015), bad connection, or just plain going bad.
Killer_A-C Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Adjust the PTO clutch.Mine done the sane thing.....
comet66 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 As above. I have seen the same symptom caused by out of adjustment PTO, or also by low voltage due to a battery or regulator problem.
snag Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 Thanks for some direction, I admit the battery is suspect so I will start there, and work towards the clutch. Ill post what I find Thanks
WITom Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 My old Ultima did that too. Replaced the safety interlock module behind the right side dash cover and cured the problem.
snag Posted May 20, 2011 Author Posted May 20, 2011 Well, tore in the clutch and got it to a slide fit for .015 guage, still wasnt turing the blades. Decide to pull the deck and see how the gear box was. Noticed that I have a schredded belt on the deck. Ill replace it tommorow and hope it just broke from old age.
