TommyK Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 There was a long strip of ... foam rubber, I guess, affixed to the to of the engine shroud, just aft of the air cleaner cover. There are remnants of it still remaining. How important is this piece of rubber? I will probably fabricate something on my own if it is necessary. Anyone else have experience with this?
JohnMBerst Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Foam came off my 12.5 and 16 twins. The foam helps keep one side "cool" and the other "warmer". I just removed the old foam and tape, used carpet tape and window sealing foam for installing air conditioners from Menard's. Notched the foam so it would bend in the "V" shape, made it longer on each end and trimmed off. So far has held up well for 6 months.
