I am trying to understand why simplicity put the small 7" wide rims on the sovereigns? Maybe cost, maybe they had a bunch left over from when the machine had 8.5" tires not the 10.5.... I just don't know? Putting a 10.5 tire on a 7" rim is just not ideal you get a lot of balloning. I have several pairs of the 10.5" rims from the legacy (with offset changed) that I use on mine. A good rule is the tire and rim should be same width, even Miller tire posts this advice.

I agree putting a 10.5 tire on a 7" wide rim isn't great. But based on my rim measurements, that's what Simplicity has used on the back of the Sovereign class tractors for a long time. Measure your 75th chrome wheels and you'll see they are also 7". Only wheels I have that are wider came on my A/C built Homelite T-12; they are 8". Here's a couple of pics side by side:

It's pretty obvious the Homelite rims are on the right. You can also see this post for some more discussion: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=60068&SearchTerms=wheel And according to "Rustybore" the 10.5's shouldn't be mounted on 7" rims. Carlisle recommends a minimum width of 8.5".

This Carlisle catalog states the rim widths for each tire. http://www.carlisletire.com/media/catalogs/index.html

agree for this very reason I am switching all my machines over to 10.5" wide legacy wheel with offset moved.... I have a source for these wheels. Even my 75th is getting 10.5" chrome dipped and putting the original 7" of a non-keeper machine. I just don't get why simplicity did this 7" thing.... must have been cost. But it's only afew bucks more to add the extra width.

My 7790 and a 7116H I parted out had 8.5" wide wheels. My Deutz Allis has 7" wide when I bought it but had 8.50" tires. The Allis 916H has 7" wide rims with 10.50" wide tires. They must have used what they had on hand at the time. My HB 112 has solid dish rims which you don`t see very often. They are 10" wide rims. Think about putting lugs on them but never had a situation where I needed lugs.
