mroman59 Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I talked to a dealer and asked him what I should be using in my BGB and mentioned to him that I noticed different oils recommended for tractors with essentially the same BGB. He stated that the oil recommended for the BGB in the manual was usually the same that was put in the transmission of the tractor. He said Simplicity was just trying to make it easy for the owner. He said that you can use a variety of oils that will work. I guess that's why my 7117H BGB oil recommendation is Simplicity hydraulic transmission oil, i.e. because the 7117H is a hydrostatic transmission and uses hydraulic oil. Everyone agree? MR
hotrodtractor Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 most guys here agree to use gear oil 90w in the BGB
RayS Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I actually use either in mine. My retired dealer says to use 80 - 90 weight. The hydraulic fluid is quiter in the winter. It works fine there is a bunch of 30 year old tractors using that multi purpose hydraulic/ transmission oil.
