mroman59 Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Page 2, step 8 says to attach the cable guard and pulley as seen in figure 3 with the cable guard outside the U shaped bracket. Then it says to locate the leg of the ground over the cable, so that the cable does not ride against the cable guard. Questions: 1. I am not sure what they mean by "Leg of the ground" over the pulley. 2. In figure 3 the cable guard looks like it is riding just at the edge of the pulley (and not over it and the the cable). Is this photo correct? When I attach my cable guard it extends over the pulley and cable. I thought that the cable guard should go over the cable and pulley to help hold the cable in the pulley groove, like my cable guard does on the deck lift pulley. Help appreciated. Mike
RedbarnRick Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 The drawing in figure 3 is looking from the rear of the tractor forward, what they want you to do is to place the cable guard over and forward of the u-shaped bracket. This puts the guard over the top of the pulley, then adjust it so it holds the cable in the pulley but does not rub on the pulley,(making it harder to lift something) some instruction writers just don't make it plain enough!
mroman59 Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 Thanks Rick, OK, its starting to make sense. The diagram does state from rear of tractor view, which I did not notice. In the diagram you cant see the guard over top of the pulley because it is in front of the u-shaped bracket. I will make sure that it is in front and not touching the cable as much as possible. I also dont have the cable retainer as shown in figure 7, but the hole and screw is there it looks like. I think I can make one of those. Mike
