Was it a hi lo?

My new to me 2012, mfr #990399, has a sticker on the right side of the cover and seat pivot assembly that says "hi lo." But, there's not hi lo on the tractor. I'm just wondering if this means that it came with the hi lo and somebody took it off at some point, or whether all of the 2012's came with that sticker on them. With my luck, it's the former and the guy that I bought the tractor from took the hi lo off and sold it on e-bay right before he sold me the tractor.

I've seen Broadmoors that had the sticker, but not the Hi Lo.

One of my 616 yeomans had a hi-lo, one didn't, and both have the hole in the seat pan for the shift lever and also the sticker. Steve

I recently picked up a B10 that has a HI Lo unit and it has the decal you mention on it. I also picked up another B10 that had a Hi Lo unit that didn't have the sticker. My guess is that it had Hi Lo unit but the previous owner took it off.

As I understand it, the Hi-Low was a dealer installed option, almost all the time, and the factory put the stickers on them all, just in case...

My Serf didn't have either the sticker, or the hole in the seat pan. Well it's still missing the sticker.:D:D ...And the hole in the seat pan turned into a notch.

tim, Was the hi-lo offered on the serf? I had in my head that they weren't, but could be wrong. Steve

Well, I'd hate for that sticker to go to waste. So, though I know they're rare, if anyone runs across a hi lo unit let me know.

what will the HI LO unit do for you that you cant do with your tractor as it currently sets? thanks, MR

Mroman: I plan to use the tractor for plowing, etc. I want to plant some corn and a few other things for my pet deer & turkeys (they're pretty to look at, and food gets scarce for them here now that farming here is getting scarce). Plus, I just want to do this because I used to help my grandpa in his garden when I was little. He used an old Landlord; which is why I wanted one. Anyway, from reading some of Perry's posts about plowing, my impression was that the wider speed range was helpful for such purposes. Granted, I don't technically "need" it, but if I can find one I'd like to have one.

Every round hood I've ever had, had the HiLo sticker. Only ones where it didn't show were the ones that had been repainted....and the original stickers I've seen have all been white.

The Broadmoor Hi Lo will fit on the small frame tractors all the way from 1964 up to 1975 on the 5008/5010. And yes, getting the engine to run at idle with the slight load in 1L is super crawl gear.

You'd think they would have left it up to dealers to put the sticker on when they installed the hi lo, as it would have been easier and cheaper than putting it on all of them. Maybe they put the sticker on all of them as a marketing ploy, thinking that the sticker would prompt customers to ask the dealer what the sticker was for, giving the dealer a chance to try to sell the customer on the option. I'm sure there were at least a couple stupid customers like me who'd feel compelled to buy one just because the sticker's there.

all the tractors i have come across had the sticker on them. my NOS hi-lo came with a new sticker in the bolt kit . you don't need a hi-lo for plowing garden or pushing snow. but they are needed for rototilling and snow blowing.

I intend to get a tiller for it in addition to the plow. Plus, even if I don't really "need" a hi lo I still want one. Heck, I don't "need" more than one tractor but now have 3, and am planning to pick up a fourth next week. And to think that a mere 4 or 5 months ago I didn't have any tractors. . . . These things are addictive, and you guys are a bad influence.

im sure there is plenty other things that you would need the hi-lo for. i like to plow the garden then till it. just got done turning some ground with the B-110 today. to wet to till yet thou. ill have to get the pics loaded.

If I can't find a hi lo I'll just swap out the drive pulley when I till, etc. But, it'd really be worth the expense of a hi lo unit if I can find one to be able to simply use the lever, rather than having to put one pulley in to till or plow, then put the other pulley back in for everything else.
