Blue66 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I just bought my first Simplicity, a 1960 model 700 with duals and a sickle bar, plow, tiller and belly mower. After getting it running, I noticed that there is alot of play in the bevel gear box. I plan on using this tractor and want to fix that before running it much more, I heard there was an article about this in the tech tips, but I cannot seem to access it. Anybody give me some direction on this? Thanks so much.
perry Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 welcome to the club sm01. check the front coupler on the gear box. they are known to get sloppy and wear out the key slot. check all the keyways on all the pulleys. the keyways may be bad inside the gear box. not much to them on the inside. there is two small bevel gears inside that may have worn/chipped teeth. you need to be a paying member to get full access to the club. only $10 a year. WAY worth it for all the info and knowledge on this club.
