steve-wis Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Hi, Putting together a three speed tranny, probably from a 637 I am guessing, that I got in a box in pcs. The question I have is at the top there are two shafts with the sliding forks on them. The forks have flat springs that fit into a flat milled onto the shaft. The shafts can be turned and then locked with nuts on the outside end. Is the spring supposed to be completely in the flat when tightened, or do you turn them to put some pressure on the spring? When they are lined up with the flats, they seem a bit hard to push in and slide to shift the gears. I can't post pics because my camera is down right now. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! Steve
