LesH Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Should the imported tires be trusted or are most tires not made in the USA?? I am looking to replace some tractor and utility trailer tires. Any experiences good or bad?? Thanks.

Mack Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I belive Carlisle is a USA company and I know the super lugs on my tractors are made in the USA. http://www.carlisletire.com/
midnightpumpkin Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I can tell you this; For trailer tires there are none made in the USA. This includes Goodyear Marathons. The travel trailer people, I am one of them, have had good success with Maxxis M8008 ST Radial tires made in Thailand. I recently bought some blem Titan multi-trac CS tires for the rear of Ugly Betty (4040) which are made in the USA. I believe Titan makes the Multi-trac CS with the Carlise brand on them also. To answer the initial question, I would not trust any trailer tires made in China, tractor tires, maybe if I had no other choice. John U
acfarmer Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I run some foreign made tractor tires and they are the toughest tires I have ever seen.Depends on the spec for the tire not where it was made that counts as far as quality.
Caish Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I've been running motorcycle tires, Cheng Shin, and Shinko, Tiawan and Korea without issue for a couple years without issue. We manufacture very little anymore and I go with price on my limited budget.
Chris727 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Probably half of the carlisle tires are imported. If you look close at the edge of the bead, you will find that most of the 6 and 8 inch turf saver tires are made in china. Many of the Carlisle tires for 12" rims are made in USA. For a lawn and garden tractor, the chinese tires will work fine, its really just an issue of which country you want to (or can afford) to support. I do think the carlisle tires don't seen to dry rot as fast as the imports. If you look at most of the new mowers, they are equipped with Kenda, and other chinese tires from factory. As for trailer tires, I've heard bad things about some of the imported tires. There's a big difference between doing highway speeds with a cheap tire, versus just cutting the grass at 5mph.
