My uncle owns an AC 712H tractor with 48" deck. When he engages the mower to mow the transmission begins to gallop under and steady load up a small grade. I've checked the linkages and replaced the nylon bushing that the slide moves from left to right. Could this be a filter / fluid issue? Brandon

If it happens when you engage the mower, you may want to remove the mower belt and see if the idler pulleys "free spin" ie has no resistance. I have had to replace 4 or 5 idler pulleys over the years. jh

Brandon, Check to see if the bolts are loose that attach the frame to the BGB. Also check the side plates for movement. It does not seem that would cause the tractor to surge, but it does. My HB-212 did it as soon as I put the deck on and tried to use it. All 4 front bolts were loose.

Thanks for the suggestions I will tell him to check for those things.

A fluid and filter change would not be a bad idea too.
