powerking_one Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 All, My brother picked up a fairly decent 7117 Hydro tractor at the dump the other week and was wondering if the original battery that was supposed to be in it was the traditional 22NF variety? The battery cables in it (no battery in the tractor though) are flat terminal types like would go on the generic Cub Cadet and and other small lawn and garden tractor versions (right angle 1/4"/ 5/16" bolt terminals. My guess is the previous owner changed out the cables to accomodate the latter battery type; hence we are not original. Thanks, Tom (PK)
RayS Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 22NF is what was in it originally. The 22NF has the molded boss or what ever you want to call it at the bottom of the battery so that the factory hold down will keep it from bouncing around. Someone must have changed the cables. You can get the 22NF with either type of top post. If you have a Rural King in your area the battery is $49.99 there compared to $76.99 for a 51R battery from the "Bentonville Bandit". Alot of people use the 51R as well but there is no molded boss at the bottom of the battery to hold it down properly. Here is a link that states which is the proper battery in several models of Simplicities. http://interstatebatteries.com/cs_eStore/Results.aspx/Lawn-Garden/Simplicity?dsNavigation=N~34-4294491191
