johnmonkey Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Hello all, Not really Black Rock, but it sounds neat. I mowed our community soccer field, first with a 1999 48" deck that I got with my 1999 Sovereign. The blades were dull and it was making a funny noise. I will replace the deck belt with a Simplicity belt. I sharpened the blades and will give her another try. Then I swapped tractors to my main machine a 7114 Simplicty with a 42" deck. I mowed 7/8 of the field and heard a few clicking sounds... I removed the deck and deck belt and the center spindle had lots of play. It must have got real hot because when I removed the race, the bearings were not all there. Does anyone know if the whole spindle is available as a kit? I see in my parts catalog that there is a kit with all of the parts. JH
RayS Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Is the arbor shaft messed up? You can get the bearings for cheap on ebay. I have several decks with these bearings that one has 5 years on the bearings. They seem to be good bearings and are reasonably priced. They are pretty easy to rebuild. http://cgi.ebay.com/12-Z9504-RST-Lawn-Mower-Bearings-75x1-7805-Z9504B-/370243338283?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item563439002b
johnmonkey Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 I am still inspecting the shaft. I still can't remove the upper race, either a bent shaft or a burr. I can't check it until this afternoon. I have rebuilt them, but was looking for a quick fix. jh
RedbarnRick Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Joe's outdoor has some used arbors! Jack's can get the parts, they had a kit at one time!
RayS Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I have used arbors but bearing are alot cheaper to replace.
427435 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 That ebay price seems high!!! Go to a bearing supply house (or contact one).
johnmonkey Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 I'm thinking that the old housing is wallowed out and I need the whole shebang. jh
427435 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 If you can't find a new or used one at a good price, remember JB Weld!!!
