728 deck help

heading to tractor supply now and cant figure out the belt specs for my 990577 (1970/71 broadmoor 728). it has a 36 inch deck on it but the belt isnt there. any one know the specs?? the parts manual i got doesnt have it listed. Thanks in advance

Current Simplicity part number for the belt is 1713515. I need a new one myself! PS Pay the money for a Simplicity belt rather than a hardware store belt ... you won't regret it! Tom in Milwaukee

Tom, I forgot to add the Simplicity Belt # which is what I cross referenced to the Gates No. Just trying to give him options not in any way putting down OEM products usually the best route not always the least expensive. Each one must weigh their own needs. MHO. Tom

No problems, Tom. I missed the statement in the original post that he was on his way to the store right away ... sounds like he needed the belt right away! He wanted the length, not the part number: The factory belt is 78.1" Tom
