MPH Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 After my 7 hour sit on the boat seat tilling with the 725 I got motivated to get rid of it, soo I pulled out the seat pan I got with pieces of a LL101, cover was cracked to pieces but the foam was real nice and even came off the metal in one firm piece. Had a few rust holes under it so I tried my first ever fiberglass job.B) Not pretty, but solid so I painted it. My question is how does one peel back the lip to hold a new cover on it? Screwdriver and hammer didn't seem to do much. The old cover was cripped under it so I know it must be able to be done.
Burntime Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Nice, its good enough to hold you in the seat, its getting covered so its good enough to use!:D
D10-Allis Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Marty its not that bad use a Hammer and Chisel to open up the seam, buy a piece of leather, fold over the edge and insert a small piece of rope or twine as you go around so the leather dosn't pull out, hammer the seam closed with the twine between the leather, trim off excess leather and your done. This one also has the original foam in it, and won't slide around like a cover.Leather was $15.00 with shipping.:O
dentwizz Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I use a sharp(like new) pair of channellock pliers to catch the edge and roll it open. Instead of rope I usually use a piece of electrical wire as it doesn't rot:D Crimp with the pliers and polish the edge/paint it. One tip for a better result: Lather in a good bit of contact/rubber cement on the top of the cushion and under the vynil/leather so that it stays down. Place a big heavy thing like a bowling ball on it and let it sit overnight. Good work D10!
305SS Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Very nice D10. Now i have an idea how to do mine on the 2210. Does any one know if some one sells a cover with the pattern in it and the foam as i do not have it.
MPH Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 Real nice job Dave. I'm gonna use cloth as I have it on hand but sounds more doable then it was seeming to be, I'll put more effort in it when I get back to that project. Thanks.
