Help identifying muffler...

Hello- My muffler has essentially fallen apart and I now need a replacement. I went to my local Brigg's supplier to pick one up, but they didn't have one in stock. Looking in the catalog makes matters worse, they offer 5 or 6 that look the same as mine, but all vary by part no. Can someone help me identify which muffler I need and will work with my setup? I have an all orig 1976 Simplicity 4108, 8hp. I just want this thing to be quiet and stop rattling my brain. Thanks! Chris

Have you checked with your Simplicity dealer to learn if a genuine muffler is available..?

No, I wouldn't think Simplicity would have one, but rather B & S, since they made the engine as a complete unit. Like I said, I checked the B & S catalog, and there are just too many to choose from , and the store will only order 1 of each if I pay for it, which I won't. If I get the engine code, can I figure out which muffler will work?

Sorry, it was just a suggestion. Mufflers for my tractors are Simplicity parts, NOT engine parts. What does your parts manual indicate..? Click the below link. I'll bet they know what muffler you need.[A href='http://www.simpletractors.com/sponsors/sandy_lake.htm']http://www.simpletractors.com/sponsors/sandy_lake.htm[/a]
