Madness!

I couldn't help myself and I picked up a brand new Vanguard 627cc twin set up for LP, to wedge into the 7116. I just have to figure out a decent mount for the LP tank. Or I could convert it back to gas, 23hp... Doesn't look like Briggs does anything radical to them. But it would be a shame. I guess there'll be a well-tuned Briggs cast iron single 16 up for sale soon...

Once upon a time, there was a member here that had an old 725 with an LP conversion. He mounted the tank on the front of the tractor. No front mounted attachments for him. http://www.americanlisted.com/wisconsin_49/garden_house_22/simplicity_725_engine_150_new_berlin_13028371.html

i guess it would be great for running the rear fork lift attachment in the shop in the winter!! or even to run a rear mount generator inside... wow.. cool...

Oh, yes, it's going in the 7116. I'm almost certain that all the dimensions are the same as the 18hp Vanguard that others have put in there, so it should fit just fine. The tank location will probably be the trickiest part. I don't much like the front tank location, especially since I'll be running a snowplow (and possibly a blower if I ever get my hands on one.) Mounting it behind the seatback, high enough to clear any rear implements, would be better. Squeezing it under the hood somehow would be perfect, but I don't think there's going to be enough room there... I won the engine on eBay for $425 - $500 shipped. That struck me as a very good deal for what I was getting...

Fantastic deal. I've thought about this too. Run so clean the oil never gets fouled up. Engine will run forever. Best configuration is a 2-1/2 gallon horizontal tank on the back, away from the heat of the engine. You find the horizontal ones at marine supply places, but they are $pricey$. Let's be honest, how often do you really 'need' 2 whole gallons of gas (or 20 lb of LP)? If horizontal is too steep, they have small vertical ones also at RV places. They also have heavy duty brackets to mount them. The fenders on a 7116 should be enough. Keep us posted!

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
