Repowering - Need engine feedback

Recommended Posts

I am looking to repower a custom vehicle I made and am seeking some opinions on engines. Planning on a 25-30 hp engine. The engine will drive two alternators (300 amps) requiring approximately about 12hp (1hp per 25 amps)and also on demand a hydrostatic drive. Looking for something that runs smoothly and quiet. Planning on running at a fixed rpm of 2000-3000 rpm. Total loaded weight can be up to 3,500 lbs and needs to have a maximum speed of around 12mph. Driven on mostly flat ground on grass and gravel/paved roads. Opinions?

Something to keep in mind, whatever alternators you use, control needs to come from a single regulator. If not the loads will flip-flop around letting one unit do the work. Double check with alternator builder.

Over a year ago, you answered a question I had about the tool bar for my FDT. In your reply dated Dec 31, 2019  you said the spacer, part #16, goes in the bar to allow for up and down depth adjustment. does this mean the bolt has to be tightened at whatever depth desired or does the bolt slide up and down, allowing the lower hitch to free float?
If it is tightened so the lower hitch and the bar are rigid, then is the depth to be controlled by the shoes? Or by the lift handle?
Is there any kind of user directions for the tool bar? The Outdoor Power Manual basically shows how to assemble the bar but not how to use it
