Almost finished with the blower project for the FDT tractor.Couple more items to go.Needed both pullies on the hitch and new auger bearings.Couldn't find an OEM belt so it has one of those "blue belts" for now. Some pics and a short vid of the gearmotor I installed to turn the chute. I used 2-1/2" pullies with two wraps of 1/16" stainless cable.Gearmotor is 12 rpm, came from the Surplus Center(ebay). Here's the ebay listing; http://www.ebay.com/itm/270685929761?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 The pullies are available at farm stores, etc.Chicago brand.I drilled a small hole thru the side and crimped a ferrule to hold the cable. Thanks to all for the nice comments. This was a lot more work than redoing the mower deck.

Not all together satisfied with this hitch drive apparatus. The pullies don't run true with the belt travel. The flat idler pulley vibrates back and forth almost as bad as the old one did.How warm should the pullies be after running 5-7min? These get hot. Some pics and I'll do a video tomorrow when lighting is better. The only thing that looks like it may be worn is the lower idler bracket(the hole where the lower clutch rod goes thru). If the pulley is getting hot the belt may not be running true, I had the same problem with my B-10. I had to move the center pulley under the blower one way or the other. From the top view it looks like yours should be moved a little to the rt., Nice redo on the thrower and spout rotator.

Thanks.I've thought about that.I put the drive pulley back where it was on the shaft-outside of the hub was flush with the end of the shaft.Looks like it would run truer with the pullies if I could drive it on there a little further.

None of my hitches have a flat pulley on them...two v-puleys. Is that addition an improvement? You've done a great job again! Wow...can't wait for what's next!

I think we are talking about two different pulleys the one I was referring to was the one under the blower Item AU in the parts manual

We're talking about the same pulley.I worked on it this morning and the pulley only goes so far on the shaft.Ended up moving the whole drive tube over about 3/16".Didn't seem to change the belt angle/pulley relationship much.I adjusted the compression spring to compress fully on the clutch rod when engaged, and added a thin washer behind the cotter pin on the lower clutch rod. That hole is pretty sloppy on that bracket.Maybe it's supposed to be that way. Anyway,It seems to be a little better. Here's a vid; http://s498.photobucket.com/albums/rr342/locknut-1/Simplicity%203210V/?action=view¤t=001-7.mp4

One other issue I'm wondering about. The drive shaft has some side-to-side movement. Can't really see that well in the vid,but the small sprocket is moving in and out some.Think I'll tear it apart this evening and see if there's a way to tighten things up.

It all looks good, esp the rotator. Your belt problem looks to me like you need to adjust the angle of the pulley mounting rods on the hitch so the belt runs true in them when tight. I've had to do it on any I've had and even redo them if the blower does a kill the 16hp stop with a rock in it.

You must be kidding sm01 Well,I've been known to take a sledge hammer to something when I'm confident of the end result. If the pullies are indeed supposed to line up with the belt, that's the only option that I can see. Thanks!

---I've been known to take a sledge hammer------- I been a bit more gentle on these as they are maybe a 3/8 in rod. Have taken the pullies off and back on using a pipe wrench to adjust but figured out a 3 foot crowbar worked a lot easier after working a large rock out of the augar with it. Just be sure your down on the rod where the pulley arm mounts when you bend. As far off as your V pulley is off I don't think you'd get to far in deep snow. The extra friction on the sides my be your hot belt problem too.

I used a big pipe wrench and cranked em last nite. The flat pulley looks good, but the V is not perfect.I'm going to leave as is,as they are almost touching.Going to wait till I get the oem belt, then hook up and run. Even as bad as the alignment looked the guy I got it from said it worked good all those years they used it.I don't see how.

Snow blower project is finished. After changing the belt to an OEM belt I ran it a full ten minutes. The alignment on the pullies are much better and I checked them after I shut it down and they were barely warm.Got the shield made up and installed over the gearmotor.Had some 9/16" thick UHMW on hand so I made up some larger skid shoes.
