Tom_Byrne 0 Posted July 11, 2001 I have a agco 1920 with a kohler 20HP. Occasionally when engine is hot I am getting a fair amount of blue smoke seeping out from teh oil fill cap. Any ideas? Thanks all
Roy 0 Posted July 11, 2001 Maybe the crankcase ventilation system isn't working and/or the rings are worn?? Just my guess. Roy
JimV 0 Posted July 12, 2001 Hi JimV, What exactly is blow by? This happens kind of randomly and only when the engine has heated up. Is this something that should happen on an engine with 760 hours on it? Thanks, Paul
JimV 0 Posted July 12, 2001 Hi Paul,I sent you an email about Blow by.whem the compresion blows by the rings into the crankcase you have blow by.This usualy happens when there is excesive wear and the rings and cyl.bore have too much play.I still would check your crankcase Vent also. Guest Posted July 13, 2001 Mice love air cooled engines and you seem to discribe a hot engine. I would take the time to pull the fan housing to see if that is your problem. Hot oil is blue and that kind of hours on an air cooled my opion is air starvation. If that is the prablem a small sack of mothballs should keep them out. Landman 0 Posted July 15, 2001 Thank you all for your help. The winner is Jim Q - after closer investigation I found a healthy mouse nest that went from the front of the head to under the flywheel and hydro cooler, mouse and all. Thanks again, and I'm gonna try the mothballs. Landman
