Combining 912/7116; help me think this through

Here's the cliffs notes: Just bought a beat 7116H w/ hydro lift; have a pretty clean 912H (w/ manual lift) frame/tower/seatpan; weighing options on how big a job it would be to combine. Seems like I could pop out the 7116 motor and drive shaft, split the whole back end off (isn't it only 4 bolts?), reattach 7116 back end to 912 frame, drop in motor, and then adjust wiring as needed. Is the only difference the hole in the 7116 frame for the hydro lift lever that I would need to cut into the 912 frame before transferring the lift/rockshaft assembly over? Are there other obvious obstacles that would prove difficult to overcome? I appreciate any and all thoughts! Always helps me to have multiple minds think these things through. :I

The 912H already has the hole in the frame for the hydraulic lift handle or atleast any that I have owned did. It should also have the two 1/4" holes to mount the valve.

Well that's odd Ray, my 912 doesn't seem to have it sm02 Unless I'm missing something. I can see the manual lift slotted holes in the 7116 frame, but looks like the 912 frame has nothing present where the hydro lift lever seems to go. I'd say just about everything seems off. The frame slopes, has been rewelded, and the front is pretty dented in. The tower is off kilter and dented and the steering wheel doesn't sit level. Now I'm sure I could just run it as-is for the time being, but it bugs me just looking at it... Yeah, no kidding!! My $450 bought me a running 16hp motor, hydro lift components, rear end, blower w/ hitch, spring trip plow, and A WHOLE LOT OF SCRAP that used to be a tractor! Hahahahahahaha :D If I didn't have the other frame sitting out behind the chicken coop, I would've turned that truck and trailer right around and headed home. Hopefully I get at least a little life out of this stuff :o) Guess we'll see. My first 912H threw a rod unloading from the trailer and my second 912H waited an hour into it's inaugural snow removal before throwing a rod; so far this one is doing better than either of them!

That tractor has either fell off a trailer or rolled down a hill (or over a cliff) I see why it bugs you...good choice for the parts tractor. Cant wait to see the project progress...good luck sm01

The early 900/7100 series tractors did not have a hydrolift option, therefore no hole in the frame for it. Those would be 1979 and I believe 1980. I think sometime in either in 1980 or 1981 the hydraulic lift system was added. I have the remnants of a 917 and a 7117 sittin here now that both had factory manual lifts on them and no holes for the hydrolifts.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
