i dont work this tractor anymore. wheel horse used cruddy paint from the factory and if this was to be left outside it would have a rusty apearance in a short time like most older wheel horse's do. i spray the whole thing down with slick 50 spray lubricate once a year.

Thats a beauty. When I was a kid we had a 70ish 10 horse similar, no hydro - 3 speed but we kept blowing the Tec in it. Other than that it was a rugged little tractor. I've always liked the old WH.

A beauty for sure Perry...can't beat a nice clean original! While you're showing your red, how bout a nice pic or two of that 'lil bugger you have too? I really like the looks of the older Wheel Horses, but don't know a thing about them. The little 653 on CL has had my eye since it was posted, but I woudn't know what one is worth...or what a guy should be looking for.

that 653 looks pretty good. even has original square seat pan if thats the two piece gas tank have to check for leaks, cracks in the seat pan, and cracks in the frame where it bolts to trans. they are nice tractors and one of the easiest to work on. looks like a tecumseh engine. those can be a bugger.
