Another 'lil one for the stable... AC Scamp 5

Had a Scamp pop up in my neck of the weoods. Turned out to be the shortest drive I've had @ 2.6 miles ;) Looks, runs and mows great...all the original decals and tags are there, the finish is amazingly well kept, no smoke and the original tires aren't even showing weather checking. I need to take some soap and water to it, and it will need a seat. Anyone have a picture of an original? Seat frame looks like that of a B-207 or 208. Any info would be great...thinking a 1970, and it seems to match the WB305 perfectly. I'm told it is likely a model 1600150, but I don't see much out there on them, and searched ST and the furums quite a bit prior to getting in touch with the seller. http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCyEN8cuM0rE3CSl5kbp796Dq PO was a super neat guy, probably not even 35, and has a beautiful little place overlooking a small local lake. Turns out I bowhunt on state land adjacent to his property, and he welcomed me to stop by anytime, and showed me where to park if I ever wanted to hunt there (this is a grand gesture here in MI). He's a repo guy, and had lots of tales. He took my info and added it to a file in his work truck. He said anytime he runs across Simplicity or Allis stuff, he'll shoot me an email with pics!

Love it! I'd like to have one for my small front lawn. Though, I am not crazy about the idea of hanging my legs (among other things :D) directly over a mower deck without a frame and some heavy steel between us!

Geez Brian, that one looks nice! Even has rear hubcaps! =] I was assuming they made the AC when they came out with the WB305 in 1970. It was also pointed out to me that the Scamp manual points to two versions, based on serial number. http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCBEN8cvMYrE3CSl54bp796Dq Mine S/N is 1502279, which would make it the first version, and the parts diagram with differences in decals, 24" deck, throttle controls, etc. confirm that. I figured since the newer decals and throttle were shown in the '72 brochure, perhaps this one was older and more in line with the WB305's of 1970/71. http://www.simpletractors.com/models/scamp.htm Could be a stretch though, but that would mean they changed them in mid '72? Is my Briggs a '72? 130232-0271-01 7203157

Thanks Kent! Curious when the variance began, when serial number 27301001 was built. WOuld be interesting to pin down,s ince this one must be a '72.

Looks good Josh. Don't throw that seat pan away just yet. I have one that style for my Serf at a shop getting restored. I will snap pics and put them up when it's done. Hopefully he'll give me a decent price and permission to put his name up here too.

Tim, I'd be very interested to see how it turns out. I don't think this machine was ever used wtihout a seat cover, but it's missing now, and I wasn't sure what they looked like. The seat pan has a perfectly perserved finish. It's 100% sm01

He lives so close, and was so hospitable, I'll probably stop by sometime, if I see him out in the yard or barn. Nice, since he's right up the road. Perry, he claims to have been a WH guy, a decade or so ago...

I have a feeling you know it mows great because you tried mowing in Decemeber? lol My Yeoman seat was kinda like that. Only it had pans to recover it

You betcha! I gave it a good test drive before handing over any cash. The single blade deck has a different 'whir' sound to it. 8)

How wide is the mower deck cut on that thing? Looks like it would make a great little trim mower. If you ever do decide to part with it, I know a place that could put it to use (hint, hint)

=] 24"...I'm thinking the same thing. With all the trees I've been trying to get around with the Sovereign, this 'lil guy should make that a breeze. I did put some time on it today, just putzing around and familiarizing myself with the machine. It turns unbelieveably sharp...about as close to a zero turn as a 1972 can get. It is slow as mud though, even in Hi ^
