New to the board - B10 Owner

Hey All, I'm new to the forum here and will be starting my B10 project soon. It has been sitting for a number of years now, but I used it on a regular basis up until that point. The engine is in need of a rebuild and I know it has the Briggs 23D 9hp on it. First step is getting it running again and then I'll dive into a full restore next winter. Can anybody please point me in the right direction of a resource or a couple resources for engine parts and components. Items like gasket sets, piston rings, etc. Thanks all in advance and I'll be sure to post pictures when I can.

Welcome! You'll surely find your info here. The early B-10's are a favorite for many folks, and they are pretty straight forward to tear down and redo. I've not yet done an engine...been lucky so far. I see you're in my neighborhood too...I work in Grand Rapids, and live down by the casino. Give me a shout when you get into your project, if you're looking for an oddball part or have a question. I'll be starting on the Montgomery Wards twin to your B-10 in another month or two, with hopes of having it ready for show season.

Excellent thanks for the welcome and yes on the location. Good to know for sure. I was checking out your Big-10, very nice looking. I'll be scouring for info on the engine first and then I'm sure other components as I go along. The tractor has some history as it was my Grandpa's before I acquired it, used it for mowing a number of years and then it got put away.

Jason, I'm in the process of restoring my Simplicity Landlord now and found everything for the motor at Jacks Small Engine. Find their info on the front page of this site. Prices were very reasonable and they keep posted as to when you are getting your parts if they arent all in stock. Bob

Great info from everybody! I'm really looking forward to the project and I will keep everybody posted on the progress. If things go well I should be starting on it in about a month, we'll see. Trying to assemble as much knowledge as I can before jumping in. Would any of you recommend I pick up the service manual(s) off of Ebay?

I downloaded my manuals for free and printed them out right from Brigg's website. There's also a spec chart on there with air gaps, torque specs, and other important stuff.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
