Hydro swap

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever removed a Vickers hydro out of a FDT and replaced it with a Vickers hydro out of a 3300 or 3400 Simplicity so that they could use the pto cone clutch? I haven't even looked at two of them side by side to see if it would work or if it was possible with modifications but I'd like to know if anyone else has.

The project would be do-able, but you would need to fab different linkage to operate the pto. Here is a picture of mine. The hydro is a Sundstrand, but the operation of the cone clutch is the same. I did not have room in the tunnel to place the linkage inside. Other builders have found room. Dive in and solve the problems as they arise.

Sam's working on a linkage now for his hydro conversion, and I like Jim's aboze...simple. I'm planning to fit the same thing in a roundhood this summer, as time allows. I like seeing the different solutions!

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
