Been distracted from the HB-110 with the DA 917 Power steering project and this John Deere:OyellOO666 project since Christmas. Two Finger steering:D

Unbeleivable difference driving the loader around with PS vs manual steering. Well worth all the time put into this and then some.

Nice work as always. I even like the tractor. Can you tell us how that 314 is to work on compared to a Simplicity?

The 314/317 tractors are no better or worse than a Soveriegn to work on. About the same. Nothing like the 100 or 200 series , which in my opinion are a terror to wrench on. They are also built way better to handle a loader than a Soveriegn. The seat deck/fender/footrest assembly lifts off with only 6 bolts. The dash tower/steering does come out a little easier than the Soverigns, while the hood/engine removal requires a few more steps, but not really anymore difficult. This one not only got the power steering off a dead 332 diesel, but I rebuilt the whole front end using the heavier axle and frame plates that were on the 332.

Is the steering cylinder mounted to the loader frame?

Nice Sam. A little more complete than when I saw it a couple weeks ago. Enjoyed the short visit also. Wish we'd had more time to wrench on things.

Yes it is. Its a Brantley loader made for the Deere 314/317. If the original optional Brantley power steering were there too, it would be attached to the loader as well using the loop you see in the photo as well as another loop at the rear of the loader frame. I figured since the loader frame is in the way, I'd just attach it to that too. If the loader ever gets removed( highly unlikely while I'm alive) A frame extension bracket can be bolted to the tractor frame and the rear cylinder mount can be pivoted to the side and thus bolted to that. No Biggie:D

When I think about it the power steering will be very nice with the loader. It must be a bear to steer without power steering when using the loader otherwise. Looks like nice work Sam.

Glad it is working good, Sam. It was very nice to meet you and check out all your projects when we stopped by last week. If you are ever over in my area of VA, please stop by. I am sure we can find a few things here at my place to talk about too.:D That sure was a whirlwind trip that I took with Dave. Left his place Friday morning, got back Monday night and in the process put 2200 miles on that truck that Dave just rebuilt.
