blower wings side extentions

I know this has been talked about before but wanted to get general thoughts about adding wings to a snow blower. If I remember some guys said the wings dug in and "sucked" you into the banks. Wheel Horse for example used a side wing extension style on their blowers for a few decades so the idea/design can not be that bad.

I thought for WH for example it took a 36" blower and made it 42" wide/ Anybody ever do similar to a simplicity blower or have any experience with the wings.

They cause wet snow to "pack-up" in front of the blower as it can't be compressed into a narrower shape. but they work fine on loose/fluffy snow...its a cheap way to sell a 36" blower as a 42"...IMO sm01

funny. I am surprised they do not get bent or broken off more as they seem to have less integrity than the housing itself. But then again it's not we should be trying to hit things. I do think they may help clean up a bit better as snow does not roll off side, but really that's only an issue with a plow.
