Large GT - PTO Vacuum Info

Recommended Posts

Since I was reviewing manuals today, I thought the following info may be helpful to members. This info applies to the vac unit types known as “PTO Driven” which mount on the rear center of the tractor and use a cart for discharge. 1964-66 990328 The above is the only PTO vac unit that is driven off the RIGHT side of the BGB. An additional pulley is required which bolts between the drive pulley and the starter rope cup. 1967 990452 1968 990533 1969-72 990619 1973-75 990909 With the exception of a few hardware items, the above units are virtually identical, and are equipped with a blower clutch. These units are driven from the LEFT side of the BGB. Pre 1972 tractors require an additional pulley installed on the LEFT side of the BGB. 1976-78 1690024 Sovereign, GTH-L, 900, 2800, 7100 series 1690503 The above units are driven from the existing outer pulley on the LEFT side of the BGB. These units are NOT equipped with a blower clutch. With the exception of 990328, all PTO vac units should be forward compatible, which means earlier units can be used on later model tractors. 990452, 990533, 990619, 990909 are equipped with a blower clutch, which is not needed or used on later model applications. However, the earlier units with a clutch can be used on later model tractors. http://www.simpletractors.com/images/new_in_1973/vacuum.jpg
