is there anyway i can check these coils? THANKS JJ

Supply 12VDC to the + connection and ground the outside casing of the coil. With a coil wire, hold the end of the wire 1/4" from the case and watch for it to fire, as you touch the - connection of the coil to ground. Repeat touching the - connection to ground as this will simulate the action of the points. Each time you make the connection and release you should see a crisp spark.
