6216 slow up hill

My 6216 tractor has a variable speed drive and when I go up hill the speed slows down unless I pull back on the clutch brake pedal. You can actually see the pedal move slightly forward as it slows down until I pull back on it. I know there is a variable speed drive adjustment in the manual but thought I would ask before doing it. Any ideas, fixes? Thanks Moleman

That variator will do some funny things. Sounds like you're on the right track. Do yourself a favor. Remove the belts and make sure the sheave if moving freely (by hand).

Sorry to take so long to reply. I have been having trouble accessing the site. I readjusted the variable speed drive and maintain the same speed up thee hills. Thanks Moleman
