No spark

Wondering what to look for on my sunrunner.I went to start it tonight and I had no spark So I pulled schroud and checked coil and pulled the ground wire off and I had spark so I replaced wire and had same problem. So i left it disconnected on the screw by the throttle plate and runs fine.but when I connect the wire it shorts out and wont run. Would a switch go bad and cause this?

I had the same issue but it was a bit intermittent. I believe it was the safety module. Ron Hribar bought the Sunrunner and had a spare safety module to use. It is the module that is mounted right next to the solenoid with a spade plug. It's the item that monitors all of the nannies and allows the engine to run. I would check all of the nanny switches first to make sure they are working / adjusted properly.
