AC 110B Mower PTO Issues Burning Belts up

Recommended Posts

AC110
Hi I am new to this site and I just bought a rusted and limping Allis Chalmers 110-B garden tractor with mid mount mower. I don't know if it was a good deal but it starts and runs but the mower unit is another story. It is missing the blades and the mower PTO assembly underneath the seat is worn (this Allis Chalmers 110B also has the Hydro-Lift that appears to be barely working and the SS on the rods are rusted from sitting outside.) On start up just a small bit of black smoke comes from the exhaust but I am not too concerned. It lasts for a second and starts right up with a little pull on the choke. Underneath the seat sheet metal/rear fenders the belt that engages the mower PTO pulleys burns up fast. The lower idle pulley assembly wobbles and the side of this lower pulley is rubbing a nut. I can't seem to get it to adjust correctly with the tensioner pulley too with the spring on the PTO lever unit etc. Probably needs a spacer or even a bushing to tighten this up. It is also out of alignment with the pulley that is powered and spinning (upper pulley) It has a 13" x 1/2" wide belt. Does it need a 12" x 1/2" belt for starters? Does someone have an exploded view of this part of the tractor? and know how to adjust it to work? And does someone know what kind of blades (3) that I need to get at the local Tractor Supply? Also the main belt on top of the mower deck is on the smaller of the two pulleys attached to the lower PTO assembly. Is that correct too? I will get a Service and Owners Manual but I would like to get it to run and cut the lawn and clean this neat old tractor mower for this weekend's project. All of your help is appreciated. This tractor seems rugged and I want to restore and keep it. Thank you Tom rvrwood@hotmail.com

Welcome to the club! Below is the Simplicity equivalent of the operators - part manual. You will need the Simplicity part numbers to order parts any way. http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCFEN8arG7rE4CG.5kbp796Dq

Be sure to look on E-bay, there are plenty of these tractors that get parted out and lots of parts available. And check the classified ads on this site too, more help & likely better prices...good luck

(deleted wrong info). see next post. Welcome to the club. This is the right place to get help with your new beasty tractor. They don't build them like they used to. Lots of people here really love "rusty olde junk"; and those people want nothing to do with whatever new junk. This site is all about preserving and restoring old Allis Chalmers and Simplicity tractors - like the one you bought. sm01

Pto pulleys are NOT at an angle on a foot dragger. The problem is likely the bearings are shot on the lower shaft. Bad bearings would allow the pulley to rub on the bolt. Not sure what belt you refer to as 13" but the pto belt on a 110 is 35" Also your cross drive belt (pto to deck) should be on the larger of the 2 pulleys, the smaller is for the sickle mower pto belt is #2121078SM 35.1" cross drive belt is #2174911 44.1" Blade part #1656144ASM Last 2 are assuming you have a 42" deck for a 48" they would be belt #2108458SM and blade #1656143ASM

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
