Kohler carb prtoblem???

OK, guys I need a little help here. Kohler KT17QS starts right up but runs crappy. Not really a miss but the plugs are black and sooty. Also, the center of the intake manifold just behind the carb is running cold and sweating on the outside. Adjusting the high speed jet does nothing so I'm believing I have an overfuel situation like a stuck float or dirt in the system. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

sounds like you are spot on... clean carb, new seats... I send my carbs to the machinist... they get drilled ... idle better and all new seats... and of course throttle shaft bushings... nice....

Pull the carb (can't get the float bowl off on the KTs without removing the carb). Remove float bowl, clean, clean float needle and seat and check for wear/damage. If all OK it could be the float setting and you will need a copy of the Kohler diagram showing how to set it. OR remove the gas line and blow high pressure air into the fuel port and hope it blow out whatever is holding the float needle from completely closing, try that a couple of times and if it doesn't solve the problem then remove the carb.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
