Steering linkage repair

Recommended Posts

I have the somewhat common wear in the linkage for my steering. In an effort to fix with what I have on hand this is my wacky and yet untested solution. Looking for a slightly larger sleeve with the same inside hole I found my odd assortment of orphaned sockets to fill the bill. I drilled out the socket to the bolt size. Then drilled the linkage hole to the socket size. Then I cut the socket in half to make the 2 sleeves I needed. This was my no welder fix. If I had a welder I could have welded washers on and used original sleeve. I'll have to wait and see how durable a socket is in this application.
