Common view around here. Big reliable orange power towing in the dead deere .

OK, OK just having fun ..... The green tractors are good units . I had to tow in a orange tractor in the past. Just will not use a Deere to tow it.

Al
HI, Caution, towing hydrostatics, particularly Sunstrands WILL DESTROY THE MOTORS in these units. When the pump is not turning and the charge pump not turning, the motor is still geared to the rear wheels and when towing it is turning with NO OIL. IT WILL DESTROY THEM. Even when these tractors were new, if the motor was destroyed without the pump being damaged, there was NO WARRANTY, because towing is the only thing that can do this damage. Many deeres and cubs also use these units. Al Eden

Actually, if they have a Peerless 2 speed transaxle like on my Sunstar, there is a nuetral in between ranges. Not sure of the JD's or other applications.

Ahhh, thus another valid purpose of the Vickers Shift Shaft Drive/Neutral lever. But then, you can't tow a vickers with that lever engaged, or stuck. But, you can drag it! ;-))

Yeah I would agree that this is about the only Achilles heel of these machines. It would have been great to have had a way to decouple the pump to allow damage-free towing or pushing.

You can release many of the transaxle like the Hydrogear and some Tufftorque . You can tow a Sunstrand slowly a distance of 100 feet. Did the Simplicity with the Vickers hydro have a release lever in the trans axle ?

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
