Mower deck I.D. ?

A while back I traded for a 3310 V mfg# 990653. I'm in the process of building the 42 inch mower that came with it and I'm having trouble finding a manual as there is no MFG number on the deck. This deck has the double "V" PTO pulley and I searched one manual after another looking for it but could not find one like it. Grateful for anyone who can offer the correct number or point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance P.S. I seem to recall a work around kit or some such for going to a single "V" pulley. Anyone recall anything about that or doing the change over ? Thanks again.

42" DECKS: 990885 = Requires Kit No. 103256 990670 = Requires No Kit I took these numbers from WHAT FIT'S - pages 13 & 14, and referencing your given MFR -> 3310V Mfg. No. = 990653 I don't know what the required kits are???? But if the deck you have is the original deck, it's gotta be one of those numbers. my best guess, with little info. Try those numbers for manuals, and see if it matches what you have. Both numbers work at Simp MANUALS site. here's the WHAT FITS LINKS I USED: http://www.simpletractors.com/what_fits/atch_%28pg13%29.htm http://www.simpletractors.com/what_fits/atch_%28pg14%29.htm

Mystik, All of those parts seem pretty much the same as mine except for the belt from the PTO to the mower deck. The one I have uses a double "V" belt. Like two belts glued together side by side and so the pulleys on the PTO and the center arbor have side by side grooves. I didn't find any such in that manual. But thanks for looking. BTW, my 3310 has a belt PTO instead of a cone clutch.

You are most welcome. I just ran the numbers, did what I could. I know what you mean by double V belt; but no experience with that. I looked through some LLord manuals I have in my collection; but no deck info at all.! Only other thing I can think of is grinding through the x-ref section to see if anything pops out. Perhaps someone else has more info or experience. Hang in there. sm03

They show 2 separate V-belts. And those spindles are the old style spindles. Is it possible yours was modified for the double-V belts? OR, if standard, Looking at PT's diagram, it almost looks like a doubleV belt - and the price at near 50bucks says it might be also.???? Diagram is not super detailed; but that could be the one.????

I believe you have a mfg #990670 deck (or similar). This deck has the "double V" drive pulley and uses belt #168171 3V 47.9" belt. The different belt cross sections can be seen on this page: http://www.simpletractors.com/parts/belts/belts_pg19.htm Dan (rokon2813) can probably help you with a conversion to a single pulley system.

Those old spindles throw me for a loop - mainly cos I have never seen one 'live' - just in diagrams. I saw a pix once. But they aren't like the later ones with the cone shaped housings, upper and lower. Those I understand. The oldies are like, huh?? 4i Instant seniors moment. sm01 @Phandad Bill - the part number you mention is similar to the partstree listing; but can you tell me where you got your number? It seems I am constantly baffled by parts numbers, and amazed how people just rattle them off - so I have really missed the boat on parts numbers - but more and more these days, it seems to matter to me. I know they changed about 99 times over the years. Is there an easy answer to this? probably not. 8)

Found this by searching "double deck belt" - the search engine doesn't like searching for the letter "v". There were a bunch of results, if you want more. Mixed opinions on the double v idea. http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=115253&SearchTerms=double,deck,belt

Graham, I use the Simplicity parts manual for the mfg# in question to find the parts number (mfg#990670 in this case). If I want more info on the part, then I plug the part number into Jack's database. It will usually give a different description and an updated part number if there is one. Also, whenever I look at a manual I don't have, I store it with description that means something to me. Over the years I've accumulated many manuals, but not near as many as RayS. I stored the 990670 deck because I got one of the double V belts in a parts box which came with a tractor several years ago. One of these days I'll list it in the classifieds since I have no use for it.

I have a few manuals in the "other simp" catagory, also renamed for me, often that's about attachments, or similar personal interest such as 'reference', etc. But I'm on dialup, so I don't grab them all, due to time and overall connex slowdown; but sometimes I let them trickle down in the background. Similar, if I view a "show n tell" w a lot of pix. I've learned how to 'work' the dialup thing. Utube movies are slow unless duration is a minute or two - that's frustrating - I have to 'jerk crawl' the movie, then replay it. There's a lot of music vids I would like; but those are ballpark 45 minutes to view. I live in an area where it's tempting to move just to get fast internet connex. Even the original copper wire 'network upgrade' has not been done, and that happened elsewhere some 10 yrs ago. It's all around me; but not here; and it's not coming either, due to alt. wireless. (profit motive for the Bell monopoly). The old copper prevents me from dumping Bell for another provider of landline - that's abuse. But I use another for dialup and longdistance. Dialup is only $15; Bell charges 31 for the dino tek; it used to be 15. They don't want the business; they won't run a DSL-line through here now. I think in the States, this could be a lawsuit, on many levels. Bell is moving to buy more in Quebec (ASTRAL), and there's big protest about national control of media right now. 'say no to bell' (search). From my point of view, the gov and the CRTC long ago dropped the ball. LINK: saynotobell.ca this is scary stuff - and it's already way too late. My area is just part of the wreckage they left behind. Thx Bill - for the info on parts tracking - sounds like I need to discover Jack's more.
