well my first posting here and i have simplicity 4041 that needs lots of work lol. it came with a danco front end loader and brush hog. so far i see it needs engine work and all the hydraulic connectors and hoses. not sure if i'm gonna keep it though. i'm more of a wheel horse guy. it sure is a beast though. here's some pic's. That is a rough lookin one, but sure would be a nice tractor if you have the time and $ to get it back up and going again. That model/size would be my ideal loader tractor on my to get list

Welcome to the club. I think this could be a money pit. To me it looks like it was worked hard, left outside, and run into the ground until something broke that cost $$ to fix. But if you have a little time to investigate and get it running, etc., then maybe it's a keeper. I would say the loader is a keeper. This might make a good parts tractor if you find another one. It depends - on a lot of things. Check it over and see what's going on. There's no end to the help available here - and since I'm not much of a mechanic, I need all the help I can get. :D Manuals are available, and other members have similar model tractors. "PowerMax" model. Good luck on whatever you decide to do. And again, welcome. sm01 Graham .

ya she's definitely rough lol. from what i found online it looks like this danco loader was made specifically for the 4041 tractor. my loader has a model number sv-41. i've seen a 4040 tractor with a sv-40 loader. my tractor has a danco brush hog too. i have a feeling when i get it home it's gonna too much of a project for me. oh'well we'll see.

ok what would you guys say it's worth as it sits?. it needs engine work. all hydro needs to be gone trough. steering is tight. all lever's move as they should. it's definitely going to be sold. it's just too much for me. i'd trade it for a 73-78 wheel horse.

ya i was a full blown wheel horse guy also. but the simplicity /Allis chalmers tractors do everything i put them up to. the wheel horse tractors i have had here over the years just couldn't cut it plowing snow in my driveway. but i still love the 60's wheel horse tractors and still have one left from my fleet of many.

I've seen a few by me recently - (Southern Ontario Canada) There's more of them than there are Allis/Simp lately. Here's an overpriced 160 in winter mode. Kinda far from you. http://belleville.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-home-outdoor-lawnmowers-leaf-blowers-WHEEL-HORSE-GARDEN-TRACTOR-W0QQAdIdZ410212620 I have no idea what the 4041 is worth - probably get more parting out. You could put it in the classifieds here. What do you think that 160 is worth?

john u yes the hood is there but the front is rusted real bad (1 hinge is just about rusted off and the grill bottom is bad) and the original owner cut a hole in the hood and put a fan in it. yup the pump is still on the tractor.

Too bad, it was nice looking in pix - deck, blower, wweights, chains. But price was "negotiable" at 1700. 8) 8) sm00 I'm surprised it's gone. BUT - I think I saved the pix. (I collect pix of traxtors I like) 1 sec. . here ya go - winter scene - it has nice lines. pix is dark - crank up the brights. sm01

well the beast is home. i still have to try and get the rest of the loader though. it's gonna be tough as it's on the other side of a creek and the bridge going over to it is very questionable. you can see the hood is rusted pretty bad. also found out it has a double set of wheel weights on it. Mike, Is Somerset near Barboursville? I might be interested if the price is right. All of my tractors have been junkers when I got them, so I don't mind rebuilding one. I live in Fredericksburg.

Mike, IMHO, this is a totally roach'd out package here unless the deal was say $1,000 or so. 1. When you start getting into the Onan CCK series of engines parts; firmly hold on to your wallet. 1.5 Power-Max parts are not cheap and are every day getting more scarce; even things like special bearings/oil seals. 2. To me the Danco mower deck is 100% trash and you would need to at least replace it/have a metal shop refabricate one. 3. I would bet the front/rear electric PTO clutches are all but gone; good luck on those. 4. Power-Max family of used (good) hoods; almost non-existant. If you picked up this "package" in the $1,000 price range then my opinion would be to bail with selling the front end loader and the rest of the tractor (parts) on Craig's list, on this site's classifieds, or eBay and hope for the best. If the front end loader is generally in complete shape, that's the only gold ring I see from the pictures. If you are hard core about keeping this this "thing" in the work coral, then me thinks you'll have many quality cursing hours thereof going forward though the months/year ahead. I'd be curious to know how much coin'age package ran you. JMHO, and there will certainly be lots of other club members' banter going forward with this thread and opinions. Tom(PK)
