Youngest Simplicity similar to a B-1

To All,

The only thing I don't like about my AC B-1 is the
serious lack of power. I would like to upgrade to a
newer, or later model, tractor with more power.

The new Sovereigns are the only tractor that is
build like a B-1 but they cost around $6,000.

What is the latest year and model of an AC or Simplicity
tractor that has a horizontal shaft engine and is
similar to my B-1 or the new Sovereigns?

I have noticed that sometime ago Simplicity apparently
went to vertical shaft engines on their smaller models.
I would like to know what years and model numbers to
hunt for in looking for a used tractor.

Thanks,
Roy

I think you can put a tune up kit Briggs 326*** series engine in and that will jump you to 16 hp.
If you go to the 7000 series they make a nice unit with a 16 or 18 Vangard v twin re-power. We have done several. A little more work than the TOC Kohlers in the 7100 series. We have put CH25 (25hp) Kohlers in the 7100 series, but my favorite is the TOC (Twin Overhead Cam) 18 that is used in the new Sovereign. It is state of the art, and relatively cheap and you can buy what you need from Simplicity dealers and have the nearest thing to a bolt in. They are a nice engine. A power steering kit is available also for the 7100 (900 AC) series. You might look for a clean 7100 with a tired engine update it and have a machine that is TOUGH and Loveable. Good luck, these are just my thoughts, they are free and that may be all they are worth. Have fun AL

Al,
Tell me more about the "tune up kit Briggs 326***
series engines". Would the 326*** be a bolt-in for my
B-1??

I'm not sure but I think the B-1 may be limited in
engine space due the the way the grill bolts in. I
think AC made some changes to the frame and/or grill
and hood when they went to the larger engines in the
B-10, B-110, B-12, etc.

Can you give me more info on the Simplicity 7000 & 7100 series
regarding years made, hp available with, etc.?

You mention having done several engine conversions. Was
this for yourself or do you have a shop? And, where are
you located?

Thanks,
Roy

Tim,
If I had 12 or 14 hp I would think I went to heaven
without dying. I will start looking for either a bigger
engine and/or later model tractor with more power.
Thanks,
Roy

Roy, Simplicity has continued to build the horizontal shaft Sovereigns from the B1 days to present. Most all attachments for a 99 Sovereign will fit a B series AC. I have both a B12 AC and a B112 AC and with the 12hp Briggs they have plenty of power. I use them with a 42" mower deck, a tiller, snow blower, dozer blade, garden plow, and front-end loader. I run out of traction long before power. If you replaced that 7.25hp Briggs with a cast-iron 12 or 14 you would have the power you need. Only problem would be finding a good used one as they don't make them anymore. Tim
