1965 Big Ten not charging- what to look for4?

Recommended Posts

My Big Ten stopped charging. As far as I remember it did charge when I first got it after cleaning a few connections. I am horrible at trouble shooting so I am looking for a few things to look for to try and get the machine charging again. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Bob

If your S/G is putting out, it might be the voltage reg. You can remove the cover and carefully clean the contacts. I use a piece of 400 wet/dry sand paper to clean them if it takes more than that to clean them up you probably should replace the regulator. When your done run a piece of lint free paper like a dollar bill through them to remove any fine particles.

I had trouble with this too. It turned out to be my voltage regulator. Took the cover off the voltage regulator and saw a snapped wire. Replaced voltage regulator and problem solved.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
