Squeezin in some garden work between snows

I don't think to share seat time often enough, so I wanted to post up some pics from yesterday. Since moving and bringing home our baby boy, I haven't had much time to do anything much with tractors, except store them. The garden at our old place was simply left behind, and I haven't yet looked at where to break ground at the new place, as it is 80% wooded. My mother, however, had asked some time ago, that I put in a small garden for her, so yesterday I packed up the family and took them up the road to do just that. It has snowed lightly a few times, and I know the ground will begin to freeze soon with 20's each nite. Was nice to get a 'little' seat time and some fresh air. Picked up this 917 last week, and wanted to burn some petro through her...was my kind of Black Friday special =] Super clean, one-owner...nicest I could ever hope for, and the first RBT I've ever picked up with the intention to keep. My plowing was short lived on that beast...she pulls SUPER nice, and is a real smooth operator. I'm loving the KT17, and the ride of the RBT. I like the view over that long hood! In the heat of the moment, I forgot any plowing pics. This was also my first time tilling with anything other than a 3-speed/HiLo and a 10 horse. Speed control was convenient at the end of each row, but I found you have to babysit the hydro lever when tilling the uneven furrows left by the plow. On a 3-speed, you are kinda on cruise control and have a free hand for a beverage. The 12 horse is a nice runner though and chewed up the sod without issue. This is my last furrow...at least I thought soon enough to catch a pic of that. I ran that plow as deep as she'd go, to get through their thick sod. They live lakeside, and have some of the richest soil I've seen. Took me 20 minutes just to wash that tar-like dirt off the 3212. In all, it was a nice, but brief chore. Ma fed us some homemade turkey pot-pie as a reward (My favorite), and even an extra pie to take home. If you leave enough unplowed ground past the "dead", ie, last furrow of ground to be tilled you can run one side ,in your picture the left side, of the tilling tractor on the unplowed ground which helps fill the dead furrow in easier. Looks like you had fun in some really nice looking soil.

There's just something ya gotta love about a guy that buys a "super clean" tractor, and immediately throws a pair of AG's on it and dives into the dirt. My guess is that it looks so pretty because the prior owner never did anything but mow with it, which is such a waste of that tractor's potential.

...that purdy girl pulls, too. HARD. :D It will be the mower and leaf machine, for sure, but needs some winter dress, and I'm sure we'll find some other tasks as well ;) I can't imagine having such a nice machine and only ever cutting a quarter acre or so with it.

The new addition a/c looks like a nice find. But I have to say that I'm still partial to the old square hoods. The soil you have out there is about like it is here in ND, a deep black.

:D Just so happens, I'm adding one to the fleet today! ;) I have a long-awaited for HB-112 inbound from the East Coast. She spent the night in Syracuse, NY, and should be back on the road soon.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
