I think you are on track. Regardiong slow reverse, most of those old tractors have quite a bit of slack in the linkage. chect the double ball link and the pins at the lever etc. Sometimes drilling out to the next size pins and replacing the link, will do wonders for slow reverse. Have fun with this old girl, Allis will be faithful. Al

If you get in trouble post, sometimes you can rescue these old hydros. Depending whats wrong.

I own a 416H with the vickers tranny. I have heard that parts availability is a problem with this unit and that has me worried. The tranny seems fine now (even though reverse could have more oomph).
Are there any preventative maintainance procedures to prevent future problems other than keeping the reservoir full?
