Hi, I have a question about a 1987 Simplicity 16 horse that has a carb. problem. Well I know what is wrong with it but there is something on the side of the carb, a type of electrical connector, mounted into the side of the carb. It has a bluish/black wire with a connector that coms out of it and I don't know what the connector goes to or what it does. If anyone knows what I am talking about I would very much appreciate it. I also forgot to mention that when I took the top of the carb. off, I hooked up a jumper wire to the electrical connector and the other end of the jumper wire to the battery and it moves a part on the bottom of the carb, back and forth but still can not figure out what exactly it does. The wire that connects to the electrical component goes into the pannel but I could not see where the other end was connected to, so if anyone know, I would appreciate it, thankyou.

It was used to prevent "dieseling". That is a hot engine continues to run after the key is turn off. BTW the carb works just fine if you take the plunger of the solenoid. Mike S.

I beleive that is a fuel shutoff solenoid. Its to shut fuel off to float bowl when key is off.
