Still no Fire

Hey Guys, I still cannot get my AC410 to fire. It turns over fine, but no spark. I have changed the coil and the points. I would really like to cut with it at least once this season. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone know where I could get a manual for this model?

Hi there, I'm not sure about the manual although you might still be able to get one through Simplicity Manufacturing. Their WEB site is www.simplicitymfg.com. As for the engine, you might be able to get an engine manual through Kohler (since I assume that it still has a Kohler 10HP engine). Just get all the numbers off the engine such as Model and Serial Number. I think you can download a manual in PDF (Adobe Acrobat format) from them for this engine. Kohler's site is www.kohler.com. Go to their engines site and your engine should be a K series Kohler. I don't know what you have and haven't tried but one thing you might want to check is that you are actually getting power to the coil (12 volts DC). Another is that your battery is fully charged. Sometimes these Kohlers can be a little finicky when it comes to starting if all the juice is not there. If you download the manual, make sure that you have the points adjusted correctly and you might want to check with a volt-ohm meter that you have good continuity through the points when they are closed. Also, did you change the condensor when you changed the points? One last thing you might want to try (if you haven't already) is a new spark plug gapped to (I think) .035. Good Luck, Clayton

Hi You can get a manual from yesterdays tractors. Just for the heck of it try running a hot wire from the coil to battery with a toggle. This way you know you are getting power to the coil.
