Hot 14 HP Kohler

A friend has a john deere 214 with a 14 hp kohler model# k321AQS Spec #60270D. It has been overheating and making a knocking sound. The knocking sound seems to be part of the tractor as I have heard it knock before the overheating problem. He replaced the coil/condenser & it has a new starter alternater. Any suggestions would be appreciated. PS pardon the talk about the green ones. And may god bless this great country of ours.

It doesn't matter what color the tractor is, they all need maintenance and care. The knocking is either the cam gear or the conecting rod, the temperature end of it is most likely a shroud full of chaff or a mouse nest.

Speaking of that 'famous green' co.,,they bought Homelite,,cheapened the product to compete with the box stores and in doing so made it virtually unsellable as they recently put it up for sale,,no more homelite parts avail,, especially the old stuff from the early 70's,,
