916H Idle woes = throttle shaft

I believe my 916H won't idle because the throttle shaft has an extreme amount of play. It allows air to be sucked down the shaft hole. Can this be repaired easily? If not, how much is a new carb? Brent

The top of the Kohler carb has a counterbore for a bushing to be inserted. Bushing is only available from Kohler in a $70 kit. Have one made at a machine shop. Bill

The local machine shop tells me the kit is around $23 but I have to bring the carb, or at least the throttle shaft in to be measured as they cannot tell which kit I need based on engine and spec numbers. They need the carb # or the shaft itself. Brent

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
