File the points, usually they corode from bad seal, good luck,-BradW P.S. Use a paper finger nail file from wal-mart, I buy the 99 cents box just to have them around for that reason.

You might also check the magnetics (built into side of flywheel) and the coil pickups, clean and reset the gap on coil. Good luck! Marion Kerr

Magnets on the fly wheel could be a good shot. Just a couple days ago on the 4th major concrete pour in the past 10 days, big push before freeze over, the power trowel wouldn't start to save my shoulders. pulled off the fly wheel cover and found the fly wheel thickly covered with rust, cleaned it up good and thee ole briggs briggs sparked and ran pretty good. still needs winter going through, when doing concrete, one pull starts or it needs help. well i did that and it ran good just like it did before storage. made two passes with it(my 44"cut deck on toro died no parts avalible for it only made one year of that model). so now i need this before snow fall. well anyway it ran fine then just died and now has little spark and no fire.has fresh gas and was good plug. what is the right gap for the coil and condenser? i set them to 0.25 is this good? the carb is clean i checked that and it is ok. any suggestions would help. thanks matt
