811 gt ??'s

Hey Guys & gals. I came across a 811 GT with a tiller, no deck at a friends house. It needs a carb cleaning & the worst item it needs is a bearing for the left drive-shaft. At least I assume it's a bearing that went out or is gone. The shaft just wobbles around. My question is, Is it a bearing or something more serious in the tranny? Any Input on parts sources??

I have an 810GT and have replaced the bearings on the axle shaft. It is a roller bearing and requires the tranny to be removed and split. It isn't a real hard job, just be careful when you split the tranny, go slow, lots of shims and washers in there that position the gears and they sometimes fall off when you open the tranny, making it hard to figure out where they came from.

As far as the second post with problem, I would guess either the idler pulley assembly for the clutch is dirty, sticking, or the spring is bad. Other possibility is the drive belt is shot. Check the belt routing to be sure it is correct. If you download the manual for a Simplicity 6010 or 6011, it is almost identical to the 810 and 811 Allis and will help you.
